Woodcut print on vintage ledger paper
"Work or Fish?" is an apt title representing the age old dilema that all anglers face. I chose to go with a bold graphic because I printed on a busy piece of vintage ledger paper. The paper came from my neighbor, Jim Meddles. It's from his folk's old Lake Arrowhead General Store, circa 1919. Jim was going to throw away the ledgers until I rescued and re-purposed them. Notice the date in the upper right corner?

Anytime I can incorporate a found object, or something unique in the print, I do! It really creates a genuine feeling.

Woodcut printed on Stonehenge Watercolor
There's that moment when you land a fish and look down to see what you have. "In the Net" captures that first look at a nice Brown Trout. Based on a photo of a fish  I landed at Lake Crowley, California, it's done in a multi-color roll technique using Akua soy based inks.

Woodcut on Stonehenge Watercolor
"Rise" depicts a hook jawed male Brown Trout in a freestone creek. Is he turning to take a dry fly from the surface, or perhaps getting ready for the fall spawn? I used a variety of tools for this effect and printed with carbon black Akua inks onto Stonehenge watercolor paper.
Matted in 11x14 double thick gallery mat for $60.00USD.

Woodcut printed on vintage wall paper
"Fly Away Home" was shamelessly lifted from the film of the same name. For this print, I used some old 1950's era wall paper to print on. It was so brittle, I had to soak it for quite along time to make it pliable again. After printing and drying, I hand tore it, giving it the rough hewn look as shown. In this example, it's sandwiched bewtween two piece of glass and framed. It can also been presented in the traditional frame and mat style.
8x10 print matted usually to a 16x20 presentation. $85.00USD

Etching and relief on Stonehenge watercolor
"Sequoia" is an etching and relief style print from a trip into Sequoia NP. In one of those wonderful mistakes, I didn't clear enough surface material around the crown of the tree, resulting in the 'fog' area. With a scribe, I drew in some whimsical lines to create an art deco feel to the piece. I think it worked out pretty well!

The photo shows how different inks can be used, and also shows how each print that is pulled has its own unique characteristics, thus making it an 'original print.'
Print approx. 5x12 sold unmatted. $40.00USD
